Wasp & Hornet Services
Pest Near – Local wasp and hornet control specialists
Wasps and hornets have a way of showing up where you least expect them — tucked behind siding, buried underground, hidden inside wall voids, or hanging under your deck. By the time most people notice a nest, it’s already well established.
At Pest Near, we locate nests early, treat them safely, and help protect your home or business before colonies have a chance to grow and become aggressive. If you’ve spotted wasp or hornet activity around your property, don’t wait — early treatment makes all the difference.
Serving Everett, Lynnwood, Mukilteo, Mill Creek, Bothell, Shoreline, Edmonds, and surrounding North Seattle communities.
Our Pest Control Services
UNDERSTANDING WASP & HORNET ACTIVITY IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
Western Washington is prime territory for wasps and hornets. Warm spring weather kicks off nesting season early, and by mid-summer colonies can grow to thousands of workers — becoming increasingly territorial and aggressive as the season progresses.
The tricky part? Many nests start in hidden spots that are easy to miss:
- Under eaves and roof soffits
- Inside wall voids and attics
- Behind siding and shutters
- Under decks and porches
- In the ground or landscaping
- Inside sheds and outbuildings
That’s why early detection and removal is so important. A small nest treated in spring is far safer and easier to deal with than a large, aggressive colony in August.

COMMON STINGING INSECTS WE TREAT
Our wasp and hornet control services address the most common species found in the Pacific Northwest, including:
- Yellowjackets — Highly aggressive, often nesting in the ground or inside wall voids.
- Bald-Faced Hornets — Large, defensive colonies that build exposed papery nests in trees and on structures.
- European Hornets — Active day and night, nesting in hollow trees and wall cavities.
- Paper Wasps — Commonly found under eaves, decks, and around outdoor living areas.
- European Paper Wasps — Increasingly common in Western WA and often mistaken for yellowjackets.
- Mud Daubers — Solitary and low aggression, typically found in garages, eaves, and sheltered areas.
Identifying the species helps us determine the safest and most effective treatment approach for your specific situation.

Service Plan vs. Additional Service
Certain solitary or low-aggression wasps—such as European paper wasps, mud daubers, and similar species—may be addressed as part of our Ongoing Pest Management (Year-Round Pest Control) service plans when activity is limited and nests are readily accessible.
More aggressive or high-risk stinging insects — including yellowjackets and hornets — typically require specialized safety equipment, elevated access considerations, and targeted treatment. These services are not included in recurring service plans and are considered additional services.
STINGING INSECTS NOT COVERED UNDER STANDARD SERVICE
To maintain clear expectations, standard wasp and stinging insect control does not include:
- Honey bees
- Bumble bees
- Other protected or beneficial pollinators
- Wildlife or non-insect pest issues
If bee activity is suspected, we may recommend contacting a licensed beekeeper or local resource for safe relocation when appropriate.
